BAPTISMS
Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted jesus for our salvation.
Baptisms Breakdown
BAPTISM IS AN IMPORTANT STEP OF OBEDIENCE THAT SHOWS OTHERS WE HAVE PERSONALLY TRUSTED JESUS FOR OUR SALVATION. WE BELIEVE THAT WATER BAPTISM IS A PUBLIC DECLARATION OF THREE IMPORTANT THINGS: YOU ARE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS, YOU ARE BEGINNING A CHANGED LIFE IN JESUS, AND YOU ARE PART OF A NEW FAMILY.
Ready to Baptized?
Baptism is an outward expression of what you have already decided in your heart. If you are ready to make that public declaration, then get started by signing up for our next baptisms weekend with Sis. Cathy Wise!
What is the purpose of Baptisms?
Baptism is a celebration of your relationship with Jesus and your life with Christ. It is an opportunity to declare to the world, that you are a person who has decided to follow Jesus.
What is the Significance of Baptism?
By being baptized, you are announcing that you have chosen to leave your former way of doing life on your own and have entered a new life with Christ. Baptism by immersion is symbolic of this choice. As you enter the water and are immersed, dying to the old way of life, you come out of the water, being raised to new life. At Eastside Assembly of Believers, we believe that water baptism is necessary as instructed by Christ in St. John 3:5: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God”.
Water baptism is not a means of salvation. It is an outward demonstration, to others, of the internal transformation made because of the believer’s acceptance of Jesus as their Lord and Savior. As a body, we practice immersion in preference to ‘sprinkling’, as immersion more closely corresponds to the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord – Colossians 2:12. More than any other method, immersion symbolizes regeneration and purification. At Eastside Assembly of Believers, we follow the formula given by Christ for our baptism: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” – St. Matthew 28:19.
Invite friends and family to share in it with you. If you know friends or family who do not yet know Christ, take a steep of faith and invite them to come witness your announcement. Together in Christ, Eastside AOB Pastoral Staff!
